The Critical Clinical Skill for NYE
On New Year's Eve, the most dangerous assumption is that an unconscious person is simply drunk. Cardiac arrest, hypoglycaemic coma, major head injury from a fall, and acute stroke can all present as intoxication. Our paramedics do not make that assumption - every collapsed patient receives a full clinical assessment, whatever the apparent cause. Yes - for 250 guests with alcohol service over a long evening on the busiest night of the year for NHS emergency services, a qualified clinician on site is essential. A hotel's own first aid provision is not sufficient for this level of risk. We will assess your specific event and recommend the right clinical grade for your needs - whether that is a paramedic, an emergency care practitioner, or another registered clinician. We will put that recommendation in writing so you have clear documentation for your duty of care obligations. On NYE, a 999 response at your venue could be 45 minutes or longer; having a qualified clinician on site is not optional on this night.
